The Impact the Election has on Estate and Tax Planning and Interesting Results of Recent Court Cases
Sonja Pippin, Ph.D. will be discussing the election outcome and the potential impact on estate and tax planning. Additionally, she will discuss her research regarding various court cases with the IRS where the valuation of an asset or business for estate tax purposes was contended and will discuss some of the interesting results .
Sonja Pippin, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in accounting at the University of Nevada, Reno. She teaches income taxation of corporations, flow-through entities, estates and trusts as well as estate and gift tax.
Sonja spent her post graduate years working for the consulting firm Ernst Basler & Partner in Zurich, Switzerland and then in the tax department for Deloitte & Touché, LLP in Dallas, Texas.
In addition to teaching various undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, Sonja focuses on accounting research. Her research interests include legal tax research, technology acceptance in accounting and tax environment, as well as public policy and public finance related issues. She has published several academic and practitioner-oriented journals such as the Journal of Legal Tax Research, the CPA Journal and Today's CPA.
