Session 1: How to Avoid and Manage IRS Audits
A brief background on the IRS organization as it relates to the IRS Estate and Gift Tax
Program and issues are presented to provide insight into the various silos and different
cultures associated with business appraisal issues at the IRS. The processes of both
the national and local classification process in Estate and Gift tax is presented and
issues related to an examination are explored to provide insight of what to do to avoid
an audit and what to do with any conflict using neuroscience and The Collaboration
Effect.
Collaboration and the Great Wealth Transfer
Mike will define collaboration and the great wealth transfer engaging the audience in
high energy interactive session on this topic. Mike will be using elements from four of
his books in today’s presentation, Peaceful Resolutions, The Servant Manager,
Business Valuations and the IRS, and The Collaboration Effect coupled with current
research on this topic. Brain science will be applied to enlighten participants on the
steps necessary to explore and enhance opportunities to provide for better client
outcomes. Mike will expand on how attorneys, CPAs, CLUs, financial experts, trust
officers, and business valuers can enhance client outcomes through collaboration. The
processes of de- escalation, communication, conversation, listening, discussion,
negotiation, and compromise leading to collaboration are presented to give participants
the tools they need so that they can apply them immediately in their practice.
This is How to Lead by Example
This session will focus on what is ethical leadership and explore guiding principles that
allow leaders to lead with a moral compass. With ethical leadership it is possible to
bring the best out in others when you focus on positive intent and impact. Leading with
the greater good in mind promotes a vision for the future for ethical change. Participants
will be challenged to think beyond the rules of professional conduct. The focus will dive
deeper reflecting on personal, professional, and organizational applications based on
guiding principles.
