Ryan Griffiths, CISP, Economic Advisor
Ryan's background is in finance and economics. He is currently consulting as a blockchain adviser for a number of financial institutions. Ryan spent 14 years as a certified retirement specialist working with self-directed investors. His role was to provide education, tools, and resources to help individuals diversify their retirement plans into alternative assets, like real estate, precious metals, and private equity.
Being a goldbug and working with goldbugs, Ryan was introduced to Bitcoin in 2012. He was immediately fascinated with the concept of a peer-to-peer, open-sourced ecosystem that would function on the joint computing power of the network. Unlike many of his colleagues, he didn’t initially focus on bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. He saw bitcoin as a subsector of a greater ecosystem. He was fascinated by the underlying technology, blockchain. If we could transfer money via a blockchain, what else could we transfer? What other real-world use cases could blockchain have? So for the past few years, he has been focusing more on the macroeconomic effects this technology could have on our global economy.
Ryan is excited that Nevada is taking steps to support the evolution of blockchain. He enjoys educating the public on blockchain and hopes to make Reno a blockchain hub.
