June Breakfast Meeting - Self-Directed IRAs and Potential Pitfalls
With a self-directed IRA, the individual has complete control over selecting and directing his or her individual retirement account investments. One of the biggest advantages of a self-directed IRA is that it offers you the ability to purchase other assets outside of the equity markets such as:
-
Real Estate
-
Trust or mortgage deeds
-
Precious metals
-
Closely-held stock
-
Private LPs and LLCs
-
Promissory notes and corporate debt
However, do you know how to administer a self-directed IRA? Are you aware of the potential pitfalls if it is not properly administered? What should you do if your client made a mistake in administering a self-directed IRA?
Deb will discuss what you need to know about self-directed IRAs. She has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry specializing in qualified plans, self-directed IRA’s and pension administration.
