After escaping the accounting profession in 1972, Jim entered the financial services business in the oil fields of West Texas. After his affiliation with two insurance companies, Jim and his partner started and managed a successful firm that focused primarily on executive and employee benefit planning. In March, 1997, they sold their firm to a national financial planning and employee benefits company.
In May, 1997, Jim joined Planning Corporation of America (PAC), the Raymond James brokerage insurance agency. PCA is now named the Raymond James Insurance Group. As vice president of the Raymond James Insurance Group, he is responsible for life, disability and long-term care insurance planning, design and support for complex situations of high net worth clients of the financial advisors of the firm's two Broker/Dealers, Raymond James & Associates and Raymond James Financial Services. This includes personal, face to face consultation with advisors, clients and centers of influence including attorneys, CPAs and family offices.
Mr. Swink has been a speaker on the uses of insurance in financial, retirement, charitable and estate planning at a number of the financial industry national conferences. He has also spoken on advanced estate and financial planning techniques on numerous radio and television programs devoted to financial planning. Never one to forego a speaking opportunity, he has been the keynote speaker at client events and insurance company and insurance brokerage firm sales and planning development symposiums. He is also a contributing author on the financial planning industry to Investment News.
He did his under graduate work at Texas Tech University and graduated with a double major in accounting and finance. He resides in Seminole, Fl with Deborah, his wife of forty plus years. He has two children and four grandchildren, all who live in the St. Petersburg, FL area.
